Watch What You Eat - Literally!

Welcome to my blog!

I wanted to bring two important food related films to your attention.

Fast Food Nation The first film, Fast Food Nation, is based on the book of the same name, but instead of making it a straight documentary (as the book is) the movie is a fictionalized journey of a fast food manager finding out where the food he serves originates. While I didn't read the book, I did find the movie compelling. I found the stories within the main story interesting and never "preachy" except for one small segment with college students. Overall, this film really hits you and makes you want to re-evaluate what you eat and where it comes from. Strongly recommended.

Food, Inc. The second feature, Food, Inc., is a straight up documentary on where our food comes from. It's a rather disturbing documentary. Its basic emphasis is on where our meat comes from and how the corn industry has manipulated our food chain for the worse. It's a real eye-opener and is also strongly recommended viewing.

These two movies will really hit you in the gut and hopefully inspire you to change your food habits for the better (more veggies, less meat, more natural foods, less processed foods).

Have you seen either or both of these films? How did it affect you? Did they change your eating habits? Share any thoughts below!

The Scott Heard 'Round the World - Join the Revolution!

Welcome to my blog!

The video below is from the swearing in ceremony of Republican Senator Scott Brown (MA). In an historic upset special election in Massachusetts, a conservative Republican won the seat of the deceased "liberal lion" of the Senate, Ted Kennedy, effectively eroding the Democrats choke-hold on the Senate for the time being. The funny thing is that the Massachusetts state Democrats shot themselves in the foot and severely hobbled the national party's and Barack Obama's agenda. Back in 2004, when it looked like Senator John Kerry (D-MA) could win the Presidency (bwahahaha), the Massachusetts state Democrats (who have a huge margin in both houses of the General Court) quickly passed a law that called for a special election to replace a Senator instead of being chosen by the Governor (it was feared that then Republican Governor Mitt Romney would choose a Republican to replace Kerry). The law passed and Kerry lost his Presidential bid.

Fast forward several years and we see the Commonwealth headed by a Democratic Governor and a dying Democratic Senator. Once again, the General Court decides to amend the law and allows the Governor to choose a temporary replacement for a deceased Senator until his/her replacement can be voted in in a special election.

This sets up the historic Senate special election that occurred on January 19, 2010. The Democratic candidate loses in what the Democrats blame on an "uninspired" campaign - whereas the rest of the world sees it as a repudiation of the Socialist policies of the current Administration and Congress. This is the 3rd election in as many months that have gone to the Republicans from previous Democrat strongholds (the other two were Governorship changes in the November, 2009 elections).

Does Senator Brown's election foretell a sea change in November, 2010? Only time (and YOUR vote) will tell - but for now, we can get out the word out - we DON'T want to be Europe! We are Americans!

Super Bowl Sunday - New Orleans Saints vs. Indianapolis Colts

Welcome to my blog!

This Sunday, February 7, 2010, is Super Bowl Sunday. The NFC Champions New Orleans Saints will be facing the AFC Champions Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl 44.

I am rooting for the New Orleans Saints. They had a great year - winning the first 13 games in a row. This will be their first ever Super Bowl appearance. They remind me a bit of the 2007 New England Patriots with their high-powered offense, though the offensive juggernaut of the first half of the season didn't quite carry over to the second half. They did get the job done though. They have a bit of a Cinderella aura surrounding them ever since Hurricane Katrina.

I'm not that great at making scoring predictions, but I'll say the Saints win by 3 points (a field goal).

So - tell us your thoughts about Super Bowl 44 - are you watching? Who's gonna win? And by how big a margin?? Leave your comments below!

Fight Global Warming - with the facts! Join the Revolution!

Welcome to my blog!

As part of the radical progressive agenda of this President and his allies, Global Warming has taken center stage in their attempt at subjugating us into socialist submission. By spreading fear and falsehoods, the progressives hope to throttle business and  real human progress - the kind of progress that has extended our lifetimes and cured many illnesses (though, of course, those advances have created their own problems in some instances).

As was the case with the Global Cooling scare of the 1970s, the current Global Warming hysteria is basically hogwash. Planet Earth goes thru many weather cycles - from heat to cold and back. To think that humans can control this natural cycle or are a huge influence on it is false. I highly recommend The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism). This book is an eye-opener on where the science of global warming is, where it isn't and how the radicals hope to delude us into going down a path that will harm us economically.

I recommend reading The Politically Incorrect Guide to Global Warming (and Environmentalism) right after you watch An Inconvenient Truth (I'm all for balance!).
